What is the Purpose of the East Texas Chapter
|
Our purpose is to promote the advancement of the safety profession and safety professionals and development of its
members in the geographical area served. We currently serve the following counties: Anderson, Angelina, Camp,
Cherokee, Delta, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Nacogdoches, Rains, Rusk, Smith,
Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood County.
In fulfilling its purposes, the Chapter has the following objectives within the geographical area:
To develop and promote educational programs for obtaining the knowledge required to perform the functions of a
safety professional.
To develop and disseminate locally, information and materials that will carry out the purposes of the Chapter, the
Society, and serve the public.
To provide and/or support forums for the interchange and acquisition of professional knowledge among its members.
To foster liaison with local organizations of related disciplines.
To inaugurate and implement programs and projects that are consistent with the purposes of the Chapter and the
Society.
To conduct Chapter affairs in a manner that will reflect the standards, purposes and objectives of the Society.

Marie Boule' has a Masters in Industrial Safety and a Bachelor in Industrial Safety. Her
title is currently Safety Training Specialist for Delek Refining. She has been in Safety
for nine and half years. She as also served as the East Texas ASSE Treasurer for the
past four years.

Linda Markin, President of Lee-Mark Safety, Inc in Tyler, Texas started in her field of safety in
June of 1995, training with Red Cross on a voluntary basis. As this stage of the career she
has already raised 3 children with College included she knew what hard work was. She
became Red Cross Primary Trainer then moved on to find Medic First Aid. While she was in
Dallas Texas, she became the primary trainer with Respond First Aid. As years flew by she
began to gain companies calling her back in the East Texas area and was encouraged by
President of Medic First Aid Maryl Barker to become a Master Trainer. In January of 2001,
Medic First Aid gave her the title of MASTER TRAINER. She is recognized as a TOP
TRAINER IN Texas, which carries great responsibility. Linda has also taken the position to
teach Medic First Aid with TEEX in Mesquite, Texas.


George Kezerle is a Occupational Safety and Health Technician and is the TSTC Marshall
instructor in the Environmental Health Safety & Quality Technology department. George
has been a member of the ASSE for 10 years and received the 2006 Educator of the Year
award.
Graduate of UT Tyler 1995 BS in Industrial Safety. He has worked in Safety since graduation
with Koch Industries, Lone Star Steel, currently with Key Energy Services as a EAST Texas
HSE representative with responsibilities including DOT, OSHA, and environmental compliance.
With over 17 years of Health, Safety and Environmental experience in the fields of
Petrochem, Refining, Construction and High Speed Manufacturing, I am a registered PE.
with a Bachelor degree from the School of Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University.
With a proven track record in creating and implementing world class EHS programs for
challenging environments and reducing regulatory nonconformance, by driving corporate
efforts to create World Class Safety Programs which reduce and eliminate accidents, injuries
and regulatory nonconformance by effectively identifying risks and implementing mitigation
and/or elimination strategies I am pleased to be the Secretary of the East Texas Chapter of
the ASSE.
